An Ohio County grand jury indicted 18 people on various crimes, with several charges of malicious wounding being leveled against residents.
Jason Lee Bumgardner, 42, Jason Wade, 41, and Justin Jack, 43, all of Wheeling, and Seth Nelson, 31, of Campbell, Ohio, each was indicted on charges of malicious wounding.
In September, Nelson allegedly entered a home on North Eighth Street in Wheeling through an unlocked door, yelling racial slurs at the occupants while searching for someone. When the residents did not tell Nelson where the person was, he allegedly used a box cutter to cut the resident, leaving injuries that were subsequently treated. The resident told police that Nelson subsequently returned to the house attempting to hurt a pet dog. Nelson also was charged with burglary.
Bumgardner was indicted in connection with a February incident in which he allegedly attacked someone with a wooden plank. On Feb. 11, police were called to a North Wabash Street residence, where Bumgardner had been "hibernating," according to a resident and ex-girlfriend of Bumgardner's. He had been told to leave, at which point he allegedly began throwing things around the residence, which apparently led to a struggle between him and a male resident. The struggle ended when the resident pinned Bumgardner against a wall, eventually releasing him. Bumgardner allegedly reignited the conflict by grabbing a floor plank and using it to strike the resident in the face, inflicting a deep wound.
Jack was indicted in connection with a domestic disturbance on Feb. 22, in which the alleged victim said Jack, her very recent ex-boyfriend, had strangled her. As she retreated, he allegedly grabbed her wrist, causing bruising, and "fish hooked" her in the face, causing a black eye.
Police reports give little information on Wade's arrest, other than stating that he allegedly stabbed a man in his neck and arm in March. He was indicted on two counts of malicious wounding.
Also indicted was William Thompson, 26, of Wheeling, charged with sexual assault in the first degree and sexual abuse by a custodian. At the time of the alleged incident, Thompson was responsible for watching the 4-year-old alleged victim, who told police that "Uncle Willie" had molested her at his residence, describing the acts he allegedly forced on her and drawing pictures to describe them.

∫ Corey Hackathorn, 33, of Martins Ferry, unlawful taking of a vehicle and four counts of forgery of a public record.
∫ Robert Stripling, 36, of Segmore, Pennsylvania, three counts of entering without breaking.
∫ Thomas Kerry, 59, of Wheeling, entering without breaking.
∫ Michael McCabe, 37, of Wheeling, three counts of gross child neglect creating substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death.
∫ Terry Rutan, 63, of Wheeling, shoplifting, third offense.
∫ Michael Mortakis Jr., 23, of Wheeling, five counts of wanton endangerment involving a firearm.
∫ Terrell Mosby Sr., 34, of Wheeling, burglary.
∫ Timothy Putorek, 37, of Wheeling, domestic violence, third offense.
∫ Michael Phillips, 46, of Wheeling, burglary, domestic assault, and two counts of violation of a condition of bail bond.
∫ Gary Collopy, 36, of Wheeling, domestic violence, third offense.
