Two Out-Of-State Men Arrested on Drug Charges
WHEELING — An Ohio man and a Pennsylvania man face felony charges in a pair of unrelated incidents Thursday.
Albert Brooks, 48, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, was present at a residence where a search warrant was conducted at 2347 Lane D, in Wheeling. Inside the residence, police allegedly found a brown paper bag containing a protective mask, gloves and a brown box full of stamp bags, containing around 11.25 grams of heroin.
The box apparently also contained mail addressed to Brooks. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a felony. He remains lodged in lieu of $50,000 bond at the Northern Regional Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
Also arrested in an unrelated matter the same day was DeMarcus Hockett, 29, of Columbus. Hockett was the passenger of a car identified by police as having license plates belonging to another car during a traffic stop on Virginia Street. Hockett was wanted on outstanding warrants for failure to appear on drug charges from out of Belmont County. During his arrest, the officer said he saw a knotted bag containing a white substance, and upon searching the car found several more, totaling 0.6 grams of cocaine. Additionally, police found a bag containing two loaded handguns, one of which was reported stolen from a vehicle in Belmont County on Oct. 8 of last year.
Hockett was arrested and charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver, and two counts of prohibited person possessing a firearm, all felonies. He remains lodged in lieu of $20,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is also set for Monday.
