Wheeling firefighters respond to a fire Friday at a vacant house at 34 E. First St. in North Wheeling. Fire department spokesman Philip Stahl said a neighbor reported the fire at about 7 p.m. after seeing heavy flames coming from the roof of the house. The structure is situated along a narrow street that's barely wide enough for a fire truck to pass. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
