WHEELING — West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice will take the podium to introduce Vice President Mike Pence when Pence speaks at Oglebay Park this week.

Specific details of Pence’s visit to Wheeling on Thursday were released Tuesday by America First Policies, sponsor of Pence’s public event in Wheeling. Pence is to speak following a panel discussion on the merits of the Trump administration’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and how that will affect the state and nation.

Doors to the event open at 12:30 p.m. at Oglebay Park’s Wilson Lodge, with the panel discussion to start at 2:30 p.m.

State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey — also Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in West Virginia — will deliver remarks following the discussion and introduce Justice. Justice then will introduce Pence, according to Erin Montgomery, communications director for America First Policies.

She said participating in the panel discussion will be Chris Miller, president of Dutch Miller Automotive in Huntington; Judy Kay Sheppard, president and CEO of Professional Services of America in Parkersburg; and Alfredo Ortiz, CEO of the Job Creators Network in Atlanta.

Ohio County Republican Party Chairwoman Elgine McArdle has indicated the county party may seek to take advantage of the two-hour window prior to the start of the event to approach those present and do a voter registration drive.

The America First Policies event is free and open to the public.

Those wishing to attend must register at www.taxcutsforamerica.org and click on the box pertaining to the Wheeling event. After entering their information, the attendee will receive an email confirmation with a bar code. This will be necessary to enter the event, according to Montgomery.

Later on Thursday, Pence is expected to attend a private fundraiser for Morrisey’s senate campaign sponsored by Robert E. Murray, CEO and president of Murray Energy. Details of the private event have yet to be made public.
