GLEN DALE -- A man was found dead lying on the ground in his backyard in Glen Dale on Thursday.
Deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office found the man at 3 p.m. Thursday behind his home on Green Hills Road after a passerby noticed him and reported the matter to the office, Chief Deputy Bill Helms said. Green Hills Road is about three miles east of W.Va. 2.
Officers arrived on the scene assisted by animal control because a large dog was on the property, Helms said. The dog bit an EMT on the scene but didn't cause any serious injury, he said.
"With animal control's help we were able to control the dog," he said.
As of Friday, the department was still looking into the incident and the man's cause of death was still to be determined. Helms added that he doesn't suspect any foul play was involved.
