TRIADELPHIA -- Units from several local emergency agencies responded to a fully involved house fire in a rural area in eastern Ohio County on Wednesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, but the home outside of Dallas was completely destroyed by fire.
Units received the initial call Wednesday afternoon and were toned out at 3:16 p.m. to the rural address of 494 Mustang Lane in Triadelphia. The neighborhood is located off of Dallas Pike just north of Dallas and just west of the Pennsylvania border.
Emergency responders from the Valley Grove, Triadelphia, Dallas and West Alexander, Pa., fire departments were on the scene, along with the Ohio County Sheriff's Office, West Virginia State Police and Ohio County Emergency Management Agency.
Initial calls indicated that the fire was already fully involved, which was the case when crews arrived on the scene.
"One occupant got out safe, along with two dogs," said Lou Vargo, director of the Wheeling-Ohio County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.
The female occupant who was able to escape from the house fire with the two pets was not injured, officials said, noting that a male occupant of the house was away at work at the time of the fire.
Vargo said the American Red Cross was being called to the scene to assist the residents who lost their home in the fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames after their arrival. The fire crews utilized tankers to battle the blaze, refilling tanker trucks at a nearby hydrant at the end of the lane and alternating the trucks to keep steady streams of water on the fire.
No source of the fire was determined as crews concentrated on knocking out hot spots Wednesday afternoon. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is expected to be conducted by fire officials.
