Righteousness Missing

Deuteronomy 16:18-20 reads: "You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality; and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land which the LORD your God gives you."

Daniel Driesbach's book, "Reading the Bible with the Founders," lends great credence to the fact that our judiciary is founded upon the principles contained in this passage of scripture. Righteousness presumes a standard for behavior based on God's authority. In short, The Ten Commandments and The Sermon on the Mount encapsulate the righteousness Jesus realized at his baptism that is acceptable to God. Jesus lived what he preached as he perfected the faith and the salvation purposed by God when human beings were created: "Let us make man in our image after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth." -- Genesis 1:26 At his baptism, Jesus became God's High Priest from the tribe of Judah, God's Lamb, and God's Judge of All. -- Heb. 7:14, 5:5-10, Jn 1:29, 5:17-27

In Romans 1:16-32, St. Paul further elaborates on both the righteousness perfected by Jesus throughout his life and the unrighteousness spread by unbelief beginning with the words: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel: (that is, Jesus' triumph as the Son of man -- Jn 8:28-31), it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, 'He who through faith is righteous shall live. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. Paul ends this passage by declaring, "Though they know God's decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them."

The perversion of justice that includes partiality, bribery, lying and murder rages in our land by those who despise the righteousness upon which this country was founded according to "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus." -- Rom 8:2 Our founders' intent to secure the individual's inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that is, the cultivation of virtue and acquisition of physical and intellectual property as stipulated in The Declaration of Independence was sanctioned by God's Supreme Judge, Jesus Christ, 1,746 years after his crucifixion as prophesied in Mt 21:33-43: "Therefore, I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it."

Now our nation's very existence is imperiled. Since the legal standard for assigning a special prosecutor was never met, the lawless pursuit of President Trump by Robert Mueller had two purposes: one, to overthrow his administration and two, to cover-up the collusion with Russia between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as evidenced by the uranium deal and the Steele Dossier and President Obama who was caught on tape in 2012 saying to President Medvedev, "Tell Vlad (Putin) that I will have more flexibility after I am reelected." That flexibility apparently included weaponizing the Justice Department against then candidate for the presidency, Donald Trump. Such corruption of justice endangers the very existence of our nation.

Freedom always involves a choice between doing right or wrong. Jesus Christ became the Supreme Judge of the world by always choosing to do right throughout his life. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and Free Enterprise present the same choice that defines American Exceptionalism. Will it perish or continue depends on the choice of justice or not?
