Cookes Celebrate Golden

Frank and Margie Roscoe Cooke of Avella, Pa., are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Sept. 8, 1973 at St. Lucy’s Parish in Yorkville, by the late Rev. Tulio Blasi. Margie retired after 27 years with Wheeling University (Wheeling Jesuit), and Frank retired from Motorist and Erie Insurances Companies, where he worked as a claims adjuster. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie and Sharon Twigg celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1. They were married Sept. 1, 1978 at St. Jude Church, Glen Dale. The late Rev. Fr. James Myles officiated. Sharon, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ellen Lucas of Glen Dale, is a former registered nurse at Reynolds Memorial Hospital and homemaker. Bernie, the son of the late Bernard E. Gary and Clarinda Timmons of Wheeling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 1. They were united in marriage on Sept. 1, 1973 at the First Presbyterian Church in Moundsville. Clarinda is the daughter of the late Harold R. and Clarinda Hodgman Barnhart of Moundsville. Gary is the son of the late Howard Erskine and Mary Margaret Clouse Timmons. Couple Celebrates 65th

Jack and Freda Hammers of Wheeling celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 20. They were married 65 years ago at the First Christian Church in Wheeling, where Jack’s parents Billie Von and Paul were members. Jack and Freda have three children: Jackie, Tim and Rick. They have three grandchildren, Travis, Justin, Emily, Alex and Ben. They celebrated their anniversary at their Florida home and donated to their Florida Lutheran Church for a specific cause. They remembered their special day and all those that have enriched their lives together for 65 years.

50th Wedding Anniversary

On September 1, 1973 George Bell and Janice Yandora were united in holy matrimony. This year they celebrate their 50th anniversary. They are the proud parents of two sons, Scott (Natalie) and Matthew (Katie). They have been blessed with three grandsons: Eli, Colin and Alex. George is a retired administrator, teacher and coach. Janice is a retired insurance agent and fiscal officer. Formerly of Yorkville, Ohio, they now make their home in The Villages, Florida. A family celebration will be held in November.

60th Wedding Anniversary

Chuck and Linda Schleicher of Martins Ferry celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 22. They were united in marriage at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Wheeling. Chuck is the son of the late Fred and Sarah (Beech) Schleicher of Valley Grove. Chuck is retired from Carpenters Local 3. Linda is the daughter of the late Harold “Dutch” and Martha Becker of Wheeling. They have one son, Chuck Jr., and his wife, Beth Schleicher. They have two grandchildren: Hannah (James) Green of Senecaville, Ohio, and Von Schleicher of Martins Ferry.
