They were united in marriage on June 26, 1971, at Christ United Methodist Church in Wheeling, with the Rev. F. Emerson Wood officiating. Sally Schmalz is the daughter of the late Calvin and Odessa Gray. She retired as a kindergarten teacher from McNinch Elementary School in Moundsville after 33 years of service.
