WHEELING — Mystery Theatre Unlimited’s dinner theatre production of “Indiana Smith and the Restaurant of Doom” will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at River City Restaurant in Wheeling, and at 7 pm Friday, February 18 at the banquet hall in Grand Vue Park, Moundsville.
In the original comedy murder mystery, set in 1948, the action centers on famous archeologist and adventurer Indiana Smith, who is about to marry his long-time fiancée Pauline Peril. But with the arrival of Indiana’s mentor, Sir Harry Proctor-Gamble-Smythe, his plans change. Harry has discovered a map to a treasure of biblical proportions.
The map is stolen by Indiana’s archrival, Soviet spy Svetlana Tickov and her toady, Ratso. Now the stakes are elevated, because if the Soviets get their hands on the artifact, it could not only change the power structure of the world, it could change the destiny of humanity itself.
The Wheeling-based ensemble has been writing and performing original comedy murder mysteries since 1996.
The performances include audience interaction and the opportunity to solve a murder mystery, along with a full dinner. Performances take place in a dining room, with actors moving among the tables. In addition to the option to play small parts in the show and to question characters, audience members are encouraged to gather and share clues.
