WHEELING – The Ohio County Public Library's next Lunch With Books program will feature Joe Roxby and an examination of the an historic local outlaw. The program will take place at noon on Tuesday, May 19, at the library in downtown Wheeling. Roxby will discuss the man who went from hero of the first siege of Fort Henry to feared “Brownwater Pirate” Sam Mason, Wheeling's first infamous criminal mastermind. When I was in high school, my friend whom I called Pete, would bring some very interesting and enviable lunches to school. She also would, on occasion, enjoy something from the hot lunch menu at the school. I never took part in the hot lunches at my Catholic high school. I know many students did. Order of Eastern Star Meeting Slated

WHEELING – Miriam Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at the Shrine Center, Monument Place, Elm Grove. The annual memorial service and election of officers will be held, and May birthdays will be celebrated. Members are asked to bring their choice of ramen noodles, fruit cups, pudding cups or jello cups for the backpack project. Refreshments will be served by Nancy Hostutler following the meeting. Patty Vermillion, Worthy Matron, and Jim Shannon, Worthy Patron, will preside.

MOUNDSVILLE – The stage is set for tonight's competition at the Strand Theatre in Moundsville for Strand’s Got Talent!
