Dr. Geoffrey Ruben,vwill serve as administrator/ medical director of the Urgent Care facility in downtown Wheeling. He was a staff physician in Wheeling Hospital’s Emergency/Trauma Center from 1990-2007 and was in pediatric practice with Drs. David Mosman and Matt Morris at the hospital from 2007-16.

He returns to Wheeling Hospital after serving as an emergency physician and Pediatric Emergency Care coordinator for Washington Health System.

“It is great to be back serving the people of the Wheeling tristate region,” Ruben said. “I am looking forward to working with former and new colleagues. I am excited by the affiliation of the Wheeling Hospital system with WVU Medicine and the potential this allows to provide an even higher level of care. We plan on making the Urgent Care an integral part of that.”

Ruben earned his medical degree at WVU School of Medicine. His pediatric residency and post-graduate training in emergency medicine were both completed at WVU Medicine. Additionally, he earned his master’s degree in medical management at Carnegie Mellon University.

He is board-certified in both emergency medicine and pediatrics. Ruben is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership and a diplomate of the American Board of Physician Specialties.

Ruben is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at WVU. From 1994-2007 he was a member of the Wheeling Nailers’ team physician group and has served as medical director of the Dallas and Bethany VFDs.

“There is a great team at the Wheeling Hospital Urgent Care,” Ruben said. “We hope to build on that to make it the ‘go-to’ location for non-emergent, acute healthcare needs when people are unable to get into their primary doctors’ offices soon enough.”
