Sex Offenders Sentenced In Ohio County
The Ohio County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday that several people had recently been sentenced to prison on sexual offender charges.
Chris Lipscomb, 54, was sentenced Tuesday to no less than three and no more than 15 years in prison for sexual assault of an 18-year-old guest in his home. The crime occurred in Wheeling in January 2025, Ohio County Prosecutor Shawn Turak said, and the victim was a guest and friend of the family.
Upon his release to prison, which will be no earlier than February 2029, Lipscomb will serve an additional 25 years of supervised release and be a registered sex offender for life. Circuit Court Judge Michael Olejasz presided over the case, which was investigated by the Wheeling Police Department.
C.J. Jennings was sentenced last month to no less than two nor more than 10 years in prison for his conviction for soliciting a minor via computer. Circuit Court Judge David Sims ordered that Jennings, upon release, serve an additional 20 years of supervised release, and also be a registered sex offender for life. The case was investigated by the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.
Devine Alderson, 21, was sentenced last month to no less than one to no more than five years in prison for third-degree sexual assault. Alderson engaged in sexual relations with a minor who was 14 at the time. Olejasz also ordered that Alderson be monitored via supervised release for 25 years after leaving prison and remain a registered sex offender for life. The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office also investigated this case.
Turak noted the importance of supervised release and sex offender registration to “assure the ongoing protection of our community, particularly minors,” and affirmed her commitment to aggressively prosecuting sex crimes.
“I remain committed toward working with victims of sexual assault,” she said, “particularly those cases involving minors who are most vulnerable.”
