Wheeling University recently received a more than half million-dollar gift, thanks to a bequest from a trust established by alumna Sandra Piper Sonneborn and her husband, Sydney. Wheeling's city pools open Saturday Wheeling's city pools are preparing to welcome swimmers back beginning Saturday, June 6. The city’s four pools will be open throughout the summer season with the following schedules: Bridge Park, Wheeling Island will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; Grandview, Wheeling Heights will be closed on Tuesdays; 36th Street, South Wheeling will be closed on Wednesdays; and Garden Park in Warwood will be closed on Thursdays.
