DR. ALBERT JELLEN, M.D.

Dr. Albert Valentin Jellen, M.D., formerly of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Ocala, FL.

He was born August 30, 1939, in Klagenfurt, Austria, the son of the late Valentin and Anna (Strauss) Jellen. Dr. Jellen dedicated his life to the noble profession of medicine, serving countless patients with compassion and expertise throughout his esteemed career at his practice, Institute For Environmental Medicine & Family Practice. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, his faith was a guiding force throughout his life.

An avid nature enthusiast, he found peace spending time outdoors whether it be in his farm, skiing or sailing, he enjoyed exploring its beauty at every opportunity. Dr. Jellen achieved a great accomplishment of obtaining his pilot’s license, reflecting his adventurous spirit. His love for classical music and the opera took him on many great adventures. Above everything, however, he truly loved spending time with his family. They were his world.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Jellen.

Dr. Jellen leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his two loving daughters, Anneliese (Mark) Kaufman of Ocala, FL and Michaela Tennant of Columbus, OH; two adoring grandchildren, Alexandria and Anneliese Tennant and a dear sister, Marianne (Gunter) Lackner of Graz, Austria.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, 11 am at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV.

Dr. Jellen will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, leaving behind a profound impact on those whose lives he touched. His kindness, generosity, and devotion will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
