DONALD STEERE

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, Don lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and deep devotion to those he loved. He passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, cared for tenderly by his devoted wife, Anna.
In addition to Anna, Don is survived by his children Chloe and Tessa, who were his pride and joy, his loving parents Cheryl Jones and Donald W. Steere, his sisters Beth Walker (Rhett) of Sumter, SC and Jennifer Mason (Rob) of Columbus, OH; his brother Bob of Charlotte, NC, and numerous nieces and one nephew who adored their “fun uncle.” He also leaves behind his dear mother-in-law Clara and father-in-law Moises, and was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dick Jones.
From a young age, Don was destined to fly, earning his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He attended The Linsly School and graduated from The Ohio State University. His passion for aviation led to a remarkable career flying for US Check, Airborne Express, and ultimately serving as a Captain with United Airlines. Don was known not only for his skill in the cockpit but also for his razor-sharp wit and ability to make anyone laugh. His humor was a gift that brought joy to every room he entered. Outside of work, Don found peace and happiness at the family cottage in Grand Haven, MI, paddleboarding, watching sunsets, stargazing, and making memories with loved ones. He was a hands-on father who never missed a concert, play, art exhibit, sports game, or even practice. Whether playing video games, traveling, teaching them to fly, or simply spending time together, Don put his children and family at the center of his world. Don was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal son and brother, and a true friend. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private celebration of his life will be held with close family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colony Cats (& dogs) at www.colonycats.org. Entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast.
