LUCY PETHTEL

Pethtel, Lucy Beatrice Evans, 78, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV.

She was born on March 21, 1947, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Franklin Jacob and Helen Virginia Iris Anderson Evans.

Lucy was a former manager at Elby’s Corporation and the owner and operator at Guys & Dolls Beauty Shop. She was a past local and state President of the Eagles Women’s Auxiliary and a Protestant by faith.

Lucy Pethtel, passed away peacefully at Liza’s Place, surrounded by the love and legacy she so carefully built throughout her life. Lucy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She proudly raised seven children and was blessed with nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Lucy had a passion for cooking, baking and was the heart of every gathering. She loved nothing more than bringing her family together and was always the perfect hostess, with every detail thoughtfully planned. Family picnics were her absolute favorite–full of laughter, shared stories, and the simple joy of being together. Even later in life, when she could no longer host as she once did, Lucy found happiness in watching the lively commotion of family gatherings, content just to be surrounded by those she loved.

In quieter moments, Lucy enjoyed passing the time painting and listening to music, hobbies that brought her peace and comfort. Her home, her table, and her heart were always open, and her legacy lives on in the strong family bonds she nurtured and the countless memories she created.

Lucy will be deeply missed, but her love, warmth, and spirit will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.

In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by brother, Frank Evans; sister, Iris Evans; and two sons, Luther Clemons and Thomas Pethtel.

Lucy is survived by her five children, Terry (Becky) Pethtel, Erma (Wayne) Loughner, Eileen Pethtel, April Luv (Drage) Flick, and Shawn Pethtel (fiance, Denise); nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
