– To leaders of the Ohio District Council of Pentecostal Churches, which spent the week in Ohio County for its January Conference. That week including helping serve meals and donating care packages and clothing to those in need at the Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling.
– To former Intelligencer sports editor Doug Huff, who was recently included in MaxPrep’s list of the top 25 most influential people in high school football history. He joined a list that included President Teddy Roosevelt, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, football legends Red Grange and Jim Thorpe and others.
– To Wheeling Central graduate and national NFL reporter and analyst Mike Florio, who will be inducted into West Virginia University’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
– To The Health Plan, which donated $300,000 to be split among 12 food banks across West Virginia. Six of those 12 sit in Wheeling.
– To Wellsburg’s Steve Maguschak, who is retiring after 40 years in public service, the last 10 years spent as Wellsburg’s city manager.
– To Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Hart, who recently celebrated 25 years on the job.
