Proper Nutrition Important

Look at what you’re eating today. Did it come from a machine? A drive-through? How much fresh food is part of that meal?

We’ve all been there. The hustle and bustle of everyday life keeps us moving and we have to make sacrifices somewhere. Unfortunately, those sacrifices often come in the quality of what we eat.

March is National Nutrition Month, and its a perfect time to take a look at what and how we eat, so we can all push through those crazy days. Food is our fuel. Put substandard fuel in a car, and it doesn’t run correctly. Do the same with your body and it’ll experience the same problems.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has plenty of suggestions on how to eat healthier. Among them are:

– Eat breakfast. They call it the most important meal of the day, but it’s often the most skipped. Make sure to start your day with something healthy.

– Drink more water. Skip the sugary drinks and stick with the classic. It keeps organs working efficiently and can improve cognitive function, skin health, and overall mood.

– Watch your portion sizes. As they say, everything in moderation. Even good foods can cause problems if you pile them on too much.

You only have one body and it has to propel you through your daily life. Don’t gum up your engine with unhealthy options. National Nutrition Month is as good a time as any for everyone to take stock in the decisions we make with our diets.
