Editor, News-Register: Many people believe that the grass is always greener on the other side. That is not always true. Consider the case of the two women who left West Virginia hoping to find greener pastures. One moved to St. Petersburg, Florida while the other moved to Oakland, California. Restore Library’s Full Funding

Editor, News-Register: The editorial in the Sunday (May 2) News Register titled “Don’t Defund the Public Library” is spot on. The Board Members that voted in favor of this move are absolutely wrong. The amount (approximately $300,000) that will be reduced from the Library funding is “chump change” (definition — “a small or insignificant amount of money”) in regards to the millions of dollars that the Ohio County school board is spending on building and recreational facilities. Editor, News-Register The recent decision by the Ohio County Board of Education to drastically cut funding for the Ohio County Public Library is short-sighted and ill-advised. If these cuts are allowed to happen the negative impact on the community will be felt for years to come. Experts agree the three biggest achievements of Biden’s first 100 days have been the Covid-19 vaccination distribution, passage of his $1.9 trillion economic relief bill, and the rejoining of the Paris climate accord. Good Food for a Good Cause

Editor, News-Register: On Sunday, May 15 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., the Wood Fired Pizza Company will be set up in the parking lot of Moundsville Pharmacy. A percentage of the sales from that day will be donated to Paws for a Cause, which is an organization that helps students in need at John Marshall High School. They provide food, clothing, toiletries, etc. to students at JM, all free of charge.
