Editor, News-Register: Sometime in the early 1970s, an employee of Centre Foundry and Machine died unexpectedly. My memory isn’t so good if it was work related or not, but the employees thought taking a day off in memory of the deceased man would be a nice gesture. My father, who was in upper management at the still-functioning mill, thought of a better idea: work the next day and donate the one-day pay to the man’s family. Editor, News-Register: I am writing concerning the crisis in the Postal Service. This vital entity is under attack by the president and his fellow Republicans. President Trump has pledged to “starve the Postal Service” of much- need funding while handing out relief money with ease to other businesses that are effected by the current pandemic. Editor, News-Register: As the election approaches, it is not erroneous for Christians to vote as Christ taught. It is our obligation to love our neighbor. That means being pro-birth for God’s creation of developing human life in the womb, and continued pro-life for them after birth, until natural death.
