Marshall Memo: New Sheriff’s Deputy; Recycling; Christmas at the Strand

A new Marshall County Deputy Sheriff was appointed at Tuesday’s County Commission meeting, the new deputy is Ryan Novick who formerly worked for the City of McMechen. He will assume his new duties on Monday. Chris Jacobs appeared before the Commission and gave a presentation on Haven Maternity. Jacobs stated that the facility will provide a home for pregnant women over the age of 18. The plan is to open early next year. Gov. Jim Justice is likely giving thanks right now with U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., planning to retire at the end of his 2024 term and spending the next several months on a tour of the U.S. to find himself. Did you see the story? A man in his 80s stops for gas on his way back home from Bible class in Detroit, Michigan and got mugged. It was not in the dark, but in a lighted area. He was not at a lonely stop, but there were a number of people who were pumping their gas watching it happen. They even have it on tape and played it on the news. Today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. is the Moundville Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. The route runs along Jefferson Avenue from Second Street to Eighth Street.
