Editor, News-Register: I feel compelled to respond to Cal Thomas’ uninformed article “No Kings? No One Really Has a Clue”. His review of the historic peaceful protests across our nation in response to an administration led by Donald J. Trump is egregiously misguided. Editor, News-Register: The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has a renewal levy on the Nov. 4 ballot. There is a group calling itself the Committee for Decent Libraries which is campaigning for the defeat of this levy because it does not approve of some books available to the public, specifically books dealing with transgenderism which are in the young adult and children section of the library. Our granddaughter played the viola with her sixth-grade classmates. We were amazed by the huge number of strings performers from sixth grade through high school. The Detroit News reported Wednesday that General Motors has laid off thousands of workers from manufacturing facilities in Ohio and Michigan. Though it is tempting to suggest the reason is purely a matter of GM’s overeagerness to catch up to the electric vehicle push, the reality is a bit more complicated.
