A fourth consecutive state softball title at Winfield paid dividends this season for the Generals, who landed three players on the Class AAA All-State first team. Mattie Carroll, a senior pitcher who was part of three of those championships, was named first-team captain, as voted by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association at the conclusion of the state tournament. MORGANTOWN — West Virginia football had a busy weekend on the recruiting trail for the 2027 class, including picking up a top running back. Three-star running back Khamoni Williams announced on social media that he's committed to the Mountaineers, becoming the third-highest recruit for WVU's 2027 class. He picked the Mountaineers over multiple Power Four schools, including Vanderbilt, Florida State, Colorado, Tennessee and Miami.
