Magnolia Volleyball Rolls Ritchie County

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Magnolia’s volleyball team improved to 15-6-1 with a sweep of Ritchie County on Monday night.

Kyndra Pilant led the way with 26 kills, seven points and five digs, while Alyssa Kocher recorded 12 digs and eight points, Liza Clegg accounted for seven kills and six points, Lenieca Grimm charted 28 assists and five points and Kayna Anderson delivered seven points, four aces and 13 digs.

Indian Creek d. Weir

25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 25-19

WEIRTON — Indian Creek defeated Weir on the road in four sets.

The Redskins (11-10) were led by Sarah Mazzaferro with 10 kills, four aces and nine digs.

Taylor Jones had three kills and five blocks while Gracie Francis had three kills.

Liv Wukelic secured 10 kills, six digs and three aces and Carley Penner added four kills, and 13 assists.

Lyndi Starkey tallied three kills and 18 assists for the Redskins.

For the Red Riders, Kaleigh Cowden had two aces, four assists, four kills and 12 digs.

Sophia Mikula was also solid with 14 assists, six kills, 12 blocks and five digs. Blaire McUmar added three assists, six kills and four digs and Ziona Barnes had four assists and six blocks.

Harrison Central

MALVERN — The Harrison Central volleyball team lost on the road.

The Huskies got 16 assists and 13 digs from Lexi Ferguson, eight kills and five blocks from McKayla Dunkle, six kills from Kobey Johnson and 10 digs from Maddy Butler.

East Liverpool 4, Steubenville 1

STEUBENVILLE — Audun Barnhart, Ayden Payne and Jacob Myers all contributed a goal and an assist, while Brennan O’Hara netted a goal for the Potters.

Cole Dailey made nine saves in goal.

Scotty Mitchell scored for Big Red on a Cole McCollough assist.

NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen b defeated John Marshall.

Lucas Harris had thee goals and two assists, Jeremy Adams two goals and three assists, while Alex Dilullo had a goal and an assist, Andrew Snyder a goal, Chucky Varner a goal, Andrew Giambroni a goal and an assist, Stephen Polly a goal and an assist and Mason Konchar an assist.

Jacob Clark made eight saves for the shutout in net.

GIRLS

Madonna 2, Brooke 1

WEIRTON — Madonna overcame an early deficit to defeat Brooke at the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex.

Brooklynn Mucheck opened the scoring for the Bruins (3-13) in the sixth minute, before the Blue Dons (10-6) tied the game in the 32nd minute with a goal from Kelsey Crawford on an assist from Kali Krynicki to make it a 1-1 game at halftime.

Krynicki then scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute, assisted by Kristina Lesho.

Abby Macek made five saves in goal for Madonna, while Hannah Buterbaugh stopped four shots for the Bruins.
