MORRISTOWN — Union Local began what it hopes is a highly successful volleyball season Saturday morning with a three-set sweep of Shenandoah, 28-26, 25-16 and 25-22.

Senior Torre Kildow had an impressive opener with 17 kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Olivia Workman had nine kills, while Sophomore Ella Pietranton had seven kills. Kelly Gress had 33 assists and six digs. Julie Broussard had 21 digs and Emma Yager had 10 digs.

Barnesville Sweeps St. Clairsville

BARNESVILLE — The Shamrocks needed only three sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) to finish off the Red Devils in a mutual season opener Saturday.

The Shamrocks (1-0) were led by Ava McFarland’s 30 assists, six digs, 13 points and an ace. Halle Markovich added 12 kills four digs, five points and one ace. Kynlie Cline posted 22 digs and seven points. Ellie Thompson added 12 kills, four digs, while Jalyn Skinner’s 12 digs. Blayne Carpenter posted 13 points and two aces.

St. Clairsville was paced by Rachel Finnical’s 13 assists. Abby Salisbury posted 17 digs and Makenna Moran donated five kills.
