PREP ROUNDUP: Linsly Football Falls to New Philadelphia; Magnolia Volleyball Claims Two Victories in Tri-Match

NEW PHILADELPHIA — The Linsly Cadets football team took a loss on the road this past Friday, falling to New Philadelphia 49-7.

The loss moves the Cadets to 1-4 on the season. Linsly stays on the road for their next game against Barnesville, which last week had their 42-game regular season win streak snapped.

Braden Wade passed for 126 yards while rushing for a team-high 32 yards. George Mamakos ran for a touchdown on one of his four rushes. Mamakos also had 34 receiving yards. Justin Heckman led the Cadets in receiving with 44 yards.

Matteo Lorini pulled down an interception for Linsly.

Magnolia Wins Both Legs of Tri-Match

WILLIAMSTOWN — The Magnolia Blue Eagles downed two opponents on Saturday by way of two 2-0 sweeps. Magnolia defeated Wood County Christian, who hosted the tri, 25-13, 25-7, and defeated Greater Beckley Christian 25-12, 25-8.

Against Wood County Christian, Hallee Beisel led the team with 11 digs and Jessa Anderson led the team with eight kills. Sydney Quinet had 15 assists, and Beisel, Sidney Knight and Karli Warder each had two service aces. Warder also had two blocks.

Against Greater Beckley Christian, Anderson once again led the way with six kills. Quinet added 14 more assists, and Sidney Knight and McKenzy Longwell each had three service aces.
