PREP ROUNDUP: Wheeling Park’s Brenna Tipton Places Second at Chick-fil-A Invitational

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. — Wheeling Park’s Brenna Tipton finished second in the girls portion of the 25th annual Chick-fil-A Invitational cross country meet held Saturday at the Wood County 4H Grounds.

She clocked out in 18-minutes, 42-seconds which was nearly a full minute behind Herbert Hoover’s Maysen Fletcher’s winning 17:48.

The Patriots finished eighth as a team.

In the boys portion, Tyler Consolidated’s Amos Kimble broke the tape in 15:50. Teammate Travis Moore was fifth in 16:24.

Wheeling Park’s Tylin Moore finished seventh in 16:37. Wheeling Central’s Michael Hutnick finished 17th in 17:25.

Maroon Knights Keep Rolling vs. Lincoln

WHEELING — Wheeling Central moved to 7-0 on the season with a 3-1 victory over the Cougars Saturday on 16th Street Field.

Elah Konkle, Rylee Wright and Loni Kusic all scored for Wheeling Central. Konkle, Seneca Heller and Elizabeth Steele all notched assists.

Bella Fitzsimmons had eight saves in-goal for Central.

John Marshall Shuts Out Buccaneers

MOUNDSVILLE — Chase Fromhart and Cooper Berlin scored to lead John Marshall past Buckhannon-Upshur, 2-0, Saturday at Monarch Stadium.

Ethan Corvino added an assist for the Monarchs, while Tripp Bonds made nine saves for his second shutout.

VOLLEYBALL

River Wins Over Frontier 3-0

HANNIBAL — The Pilots swept past the visiting Cougars by scores of 25-13, 28-26 and 27-25.

Hallie Hammel had 11 kills, while Zoey Fox charted six kills, 11 digs, nine assists and a trio of service aces. Aubrey Fetty contributed 27 digs and three aces. Maci Isaly finished with 14 assists.
