United Bank Presents Wheeling Health Right With Donation, Announces New Partnership

WHEELING — As a commitment to its community partner, representatives of United Bank presented $5,000 to Wheeling Health Right and concurrently announced the addition of Wheeling Health Right to its Premier Partners program.

The bank established the program in 2017 to recognize the relationships it has developed with nonprofit and public-sector agencies in the communities it serves.

Premier Partners are United Bank customers that share the bank’s commitment to empowering historically underserved areas and people, developing affordable housing options, supporting small business growth and revitalizing communities. United Bank works with its partners to understand community needs, implement product recommendations and provide services that will better meet the needs of the community.

To help further advance the mission of each organization, United supports its partners through activities such as hands-on volunteerism, fundraising, board membership and corporate giving.

“At United Bank, we are proud of our relationships with the organizations that support the viability of the communities we serve,” said bank Northern Panhandle Market President Tony Gentile. “We are inspired by the work of Wheeling Health Right and are pleased to contribute to the advancement of their life-changing services by working more closely within this partnership.”

Wheeling Health Right operates as a comprehensive primary care clinic. It requires its patients to receive initial health care and case management by advanced nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Upon agency referral, clients are eligible for charitable free services, including inpatient and outpatient care, at participating area hospitals and physician offices.

“Wheeling Health Right is excited to partner with United Bank,” said Executive Director Kathie Brown. “It is a wonderful opportunity to offer our patients and employees meaningful financial guidance and answer financial concerns, while gaining volunteers to help meet the needs of our clinic.”

Since 1985, Wheeling Health Right has served uninsured and under-insured people in Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel and Tyler counties in West Virginia and Belmont County in Ohio. It serves more than 15,500 community members each year who do not qualify for assistance through Medicaid, Veterans Administration or an existing health insurance plan and whose earnings are at or below 100 percent of federal poverty guidelines.

United Bank is a subsidiary of United Bankshares Inc., the largest publicly traded company headquartered in West Virginia. It has assets of approximately $19.2 billion and 142 full-service banking locations throughout West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
