App Allows You to Read the News-Register Anywhere

WHEELING – With Thursday’s planned launch of our electronic edition and a tablet app that allows for superior reading of the daily newspaper online, readers of the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer have a fourth way to enjoy the newspapers that have faithfully served the residents of the Upper Ohio Valley for more than a century.

The app, which is available in the app stores for both Apple and Android tablets and smartphones, makes the entire newspaper available for subscribers.

Starting with Thursday’s edition of the Wheeling News-Register, readers can read every story of every page of the print version of the newspaper online, regardless of their geographic location. Readers can flip through the pages, view the newspaper in gallery fashion or view stories in an easy to navigate grid.

Once downloaded, the newspaper can be viewed without an Internet connection.

On Thursday, a link will be available on the upper right hand corner of the home page to download the tablet app. Subscribers to the print edition can simply click the “Get me The Intelligencer” link on either the website, www.news-register.net, or within the app to get a password to give you unlimited access to both.

If you are not a current subscriber, you can click on the subscribe link to subscribe to both the print and online versions of the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer.

“The addition of a tablet app was a logical next step for the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer,” General Manager Perry Nardo said. “Readers now can access the same newspaper regardless if they are on their front porch or traveling far away from the Ohio Valley. We are very committed to serving our readers wherever they may be, and this is a great step toward delivering what our readers expect – the best in news, opinion, sports and entertainment, in whatever format they choose.”

The Wheeling News Register’s current iPhone and Android apps also remain available, giving readers an executive summary of the top stories of the day.

Starting at $2.99/week.
