Charlie and Brenda Witt of Wheeling are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, Sept. 21.

They were united in marriage Sept. 21, 1974 in Triadelphia United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Peters.

Brenda Witt is the daughter of the late W. Lee and Lillian Marcellus of Wheeling. She is a registered respiratory therapist who retired from GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.

She loves sports, especially football, swimming and tennis.

Charlie Witt is the son of the late Albert and Sarah Witt of Wheeling. He is a machinist who retired from the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He is an avid racing fan and is active in the Masonic lodge.

Both of them love gardening and being outdoors, especially being at the beach. They are active members of Covenant Community Church in Wheeling.

The couple will celebrate with a trip to the Caribbean Sea in the fall.
