Joe and Jan Spangler of Wheeling are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today, Oct. 5.

They were united in marriage Oct. 5, 1974 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling, by the Rev. Michael Kerwick.

Jan Spangler is the former Janet Marie McCarihan. She is the daughter of Margaret McCarihan and the late Raymond McCarihan. She is a 1971 graduate of John Marshall High School. She is the owner-operator of Off the Top Barbering and Hairstyling in Wheeling.

Joe Spangler is the son of the late Joseph F Spangler Sr. and Virginia Spangler. He is a 1970 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School. He is the owner of Spangler Painting in Wheeling.

They have two sons. The family includes Pat Spangler and his wife, Jill, of Moundsville and Aaron Spangler of Wheeling. They have twin grandchildren.

They are being honored by their family with a celebration dinner.
