Taylors Celebrate 50th
Wayne and Sylvia Taylor of Wellsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 10.
The couple was married on Oct. 10, 1964 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Power, W.Va. Both were born in Wellsburg.
Wayne Taylor is the son of the late Dennis Taylor and Alice Taylor of Wellsburg. He is a Navy veteran and a retired machinist from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
Sylvia Taylor is the daughter of the late T.A. “Red” Sperringer and the late Helen Sperringer. She attended Steubenville Business School and worked in Herman Rodgerson’s law office before taking a break to raise children, then she worked for Westvaco Paper Mill and Tri Area Amusement until retirement.
They both are enjoying retirement working together and spending time with their grandchildren and all their activities at The Garden, their home on Bethany Pike.
The couple has four daughters: Cheryl Taylor of Wellsburg; Crystal Pheifer and her husband, Ronald Pheifer, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; Caryl Taylor of Follansbee and Candy Taylor and her husband, James Gray, of Follansbee. They have six grandchildren.
They were the guests of honor at a celebration with their children and grandchildren that included a surprise limousine ride to the Shiloh Inn on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh and a day of pampering.
