Fosters Reach 60 Years
William “Bill” and Janetlee Whipkey Foster of Moundsville celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.
They were united in marriage Dec. 31, 1954 by the Rev. Archie Fox at Fox’s residence on Reilly Hill Road in the McMechen-Glen Dale area. Witnesses were Robert Foster, brother of the groom, and Joanne Yoho Whipkey, who later became the bride’s sister-in-law.
Janetlee Foster is the daughter of the late Herbert and Gladys Riggle Whipkey. She is a homemaker. Through the years, she has crocheted many cherished heirloom pieces, such as full-size and baby blankets along with other items for family and friends.
William Foster is the son of the late Okala “Mike” Foster and the late Virginia Postlethwaite Foster. He retired from AEP’s Kammer Plant in 1995 after 37-plus years of employment. He is an avid sports fan and can be seen all around the Ohio Valley attending many local sporting events. He is especially a longtime supporter of John Marshall High School athletics.
They are the parents of four children, two sons and two daughters. The family includes Kerry Foster and his wife, Cindy, of Glen Dale; Kevin Foster and his wife, Jennifer, of Moundsville; Cathy Givens and her husband, Bruce, of Wheeling and Dawna Foster of Moundsville. They have six grandchildren, two step-grandsons, three great-grandsons and a step-great-grandson.
A private family dinner celebration is being held in February.
