Thompsons Mark 50th

Myra and Jeffrey Koch Thompson of St. Clairsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 19 with a renewal of their wedding vows at the Formal Gardens, Oglebay Park, officiated by the Rev. Richard Skaggs of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Wheeling.

They were united in marriage on June 19, 1965, in the Formal Gardens with the late Rev. Dr. Russell Gilmore of First Presbyterian Church in Wheeling officiating.

Jeffrey Thompson is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Thompson Jr. He is a graduate of Bethany College with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and received a Master of Science in chemistry from Purdue University.

He is retired from Buckeye North High School in Brilliant, where he taught chemistry, physics and physical science.

Myra Thompson is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gylvan E. Deal Sr. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from West Liberty State College and a Master of Arts degree in library science from West Virginia University. She retired from Barnesville High School, where she was a librarian.

Since retiring 25 years ago, the Thompsons have visited all 50 states and traveled through several through Canadian provinces, the British Isles and Europe.

A dinner at Outback Steakhouse in St. Clairsville was held to celebrate the occasion.
