John “Jay” and Sandy Higgins of Glen Dale celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Sept. 25.

They were united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1965, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mount Olivet by the Rev. Arthur Swift.

Sandy Higgins is the daughter of the late John and Carolyn Moses. She is a 1964 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School.

Jay Higgins is the son of the late John and Mamie Higgins. He is a 1963 graduate of Bishop Donahue High School and attended Wheeling College. He is retired from Consol Energy Inc.

They are the parents of three children: John “J.J.” (Jen) of Valparaiso, Ind.; Diane (Tim) Crowley of St. Clairsville and Jeff (Jill) of State College, Pa.

They have six grandchildren.

A family celebration will be held at a later date.
