Dr. R. Alan and Jane Fawcett of Wheeling will celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary Tuesday, Dec. 29.

They were united in marriage Dec. 29, 1942 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. John H.A. Bamberger officiating the ceremony.

Jane Fawcett is the fomer Jane Houston Neudoerfer of Wheeling.

Fawcett served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Germany for two years. He returned to Wheeling in 1947 to open his office in the private practice of ophthalmology.

They have five children, Dr. Ronald Fawcett of Fruita, Colo.; John Fawcett of Hilliard, Ohio; Dana O’Brien of Vero Beach, Fla.; Dr. Brian Fawcett of Longview, Wash., and Timothy Fawcett of Santa Rosa, Calif. They have 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
