John and Mary Alice (Wright) Miller of Moundsville will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Dec. 24.

They were united in marriage by John Futrell at the Cedar Avenue Church of Christ in Moundsville on Dec. 24, 1975.

Mary Alice Miller is the daughter of the late Chalmer and Gladys Wright. She is a retired English and Spanish teacher from Bridge Street Junior High in Ohio County and later John Marshall High School in Marshall County.

John Miller is the son of the late Herbert and Wilda Miller. He is retired from Marshall County Schools where he served as a math teacher for 42 years. He currently serves on the Marshall County board of education.

They are the parents of three children: Mary Ann and her husband, Nick Burke; Philip and his wife, Tracy; and Scott, all of Moundsville. They have four grandchildren.

They are celebrating the occasion with a family gathering. Cards are welcome.
