Alfred Lonzo “Lonnie” and Marie Sharlett Eddy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26.

They were united in marriage on June 26, 1966, in the rose garden at Lonnie Eddy’s parents’ home in Middlebourne by the Rev. Ralph Hanlin.

Marie Eddy is the daughter of the late Shirl and Elsie Baker of Middlebourne. She worked as a caregiver to the elderly for more 30 years and also babysat several children.

Lonnie Eddy is the son of the late Leonard “Doc” and Lillie Eddy of Middlebourne. He worked for 31 1/2 years as a bus driver for Tyler County Schools. He also was a butcher and meat cutter for 40 years.

They are the parents of a son, Steve Eddy (Pennie Lewis) of New Castle, Ind., and a daughter, Selena (Dave) Straughn of Moundsville. They have two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The couple was honored with a surprise party on June 18 at the log building at the Tyler County Fairgrounds. Cards may be sent to 46 East Ave., Middlebourne, WV 26149.
