Nolan and Shirley VanGilder of Wellsburg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 28.

They were united in marriage on Jan. 28, 1967, at Levels Methodist Church in Fairmont, with the Rev. Austin Burroughs officiating.

Shirley VanGilder is the daughter of the late Charles and Inez Goodwin. She is the secretary at Jefferson Primary School in Follansbee.

Nolan VanGilder is the son of the late Merle and Helen VanGilder. He retired from Brooke County Schools after 32 years of service.

They have two sons, Donald VanGilder of North Ridgeville, Ohio, and Douglas VanGilder of Collegeville, Pa. They have four grandchildren.

The couple marked the milestone during a Christmas celebration with family and friends at Wilson Lodge, Oglebay Park, Wheeling.
