Mr. and Mrs. Bernie and Sharon Twigg celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1. They were married Sept. 1, 1978 at St. Jude Church, Glen Dale. The late Rev. Fr. James Myles officiated.

Sharon, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ellen Lucas of Glen Dale, is a former registered nurse at Reynolds Memorial Hospital and homemaker.

Bernie, the son of the late Bernard E. Twigg and Katherine Twigg Long of McMechen, retired after nearly 40 years in the banking industry in January 2021. He currently serves as the chairman of the board of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital and WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital, a member of the board of directors for the West Virginia University Health System, and a member of the Board for Catholic Charities of West Virginia.

They are parents to three children: Leanne Twigg Goddard (Zeke), Lauren Twigg Krupica (Troy), and Ryan Twigg, and grandparents to six: Elayna, Lilliana, Gunner, Adalyn, Louise and Elle.

To celebrate, a dinner with immediate family was held at Char House on the Boulevard.
