Lunch With Books

Poet George Bilgere of Cleveland will appear for the Wheeling Poetry Series and Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Tuesday. The program is free and open to the public.

Film Showing

The Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., will present a “Think Outside the Book” film, “Yesterday,” rated PG-13, at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may bring snacks and seat cushions.

Preservation Alliance

The South Wheeling Preservation Alliance will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3536 Eoff St. Wheeling, at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Members will travel by carpool to Island Mould and Machine Co., 84 Joan St., Wheeling, at 7:30 p.m. for a tour.

The South Wheeling Neighborhood Watch will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church from 6:30-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Moundsville Class of ’60

Moundsville High School Class of 1960 will hold a luncheon at the Guest House in Moundsville at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. All previous elementary classmates may attend.

St. Clairsville AARP

St. Clairsville AARP Chapter 2994 will meet Thursday at J.B. Martin Recreation Center, St. Clairsville. Lunch will be catered by Schlepp’s Restaurant. Members are asked to bring good, clean items for an auction at the meeting; clothing won’t be accepted.

Wheeling AARP

Wheeling AARP Chapter 824 will hold a luncheon and meeting Thursday at Wheeling Park. Members are to register by 11 a.m. For the required reservation or information on joining the chapter, call 304-242-9452.

President Wayne Cunningham will preside. Gary Timmons will speak on the Wreaths Across America project. Denis Moreau will provide entertainment. Several local vendors will be on hand. A book exchange will continue. Members are asked to donate bedding, warm clothes, boots, jackets, hats, mufflers or gloves for the Winter Freeze Shelter.

Campfire Storytelling

The final campfire storytelling event with Rich Knoblich takes place at Grand Vue Park’s Shelter 1 in Moundsville at 7 p.m. Thursday. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may bring snacks, beverages, lawn chairs and blankets.

Quarter Auction

A quarter auction, to benefit People First of Belmont County, will be held at the Belmont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 68421 Hammond Road, St. Clairsville, at 1 p.m. Saturday. Doors will be opened at noon. Lunch items will be available.

Bazaar-Turkey Dinner

Colliers United Methodist Church, 318 Pennsylvania Ave., will hold a fall bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Soups and sandwiches will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Turkey dinner will be served from 2-4 p.m. Carry-out meals will be available. Soup Supper

A harvest tea luncheon will be held at the Eckhart House, 810 Main St., Wheeling, at noon Saturday.

A trunk or treat event will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4136 Jacob St., Wheeling, from 1-3 p.m. next Sunday.

Concert Series

ArtsLink’s concert series continues with a performance of “Alice in Wonderland” by the Oglebay Institute Youth Ballet. The show starts at 3 p.m. next Sunday at the Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville with opening numbers by the All Valley School of Dance. Tickets will be available at the door.

Pumpkin Decorating

The Brooke County Public Library, 844 Main St., Follansbee, will hold a pumpkin decorating contest at 5 p.m. Thursday for children in preschool through eighth grade. Registration is required. To reserve a pumpkin, call 304-527-0860.

Book Club

The book club of the Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday to discuss “The Secrets We Carried” by Mary McNear. Participants will receive the November book, “When the Men Were Gone” by Marjorie Herrera Lewis, at this meeting. The book club is free and open to the public.
