Church Women United
Church Women United will meet at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Boggs Run Road, Benwood, at noon Friday. There is a cost for the luncheon; reservations are to be made today by calling 304-242-5552.
The program will be World Community Day with a theme of “Resolve to Love.” Garland Flowers will sing various church songs.
Moundsville Class of ’59
Moundsville High School Class of 1959 will meet at Perkins restaurant in Moundsville at noon Monday.
The Ladies League of Marshall County will meet in John Marshall High School’s commons at 7 p.m. Monday. The finance committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dan Gatts, award-winning coach of the Sherrard Middle School History Bowl team.
Plans will be discussed for a health fair to be held in the John Marshall gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 9 in collaboration with WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Presale tickets will be available for a wreath and 50/50 raffle.
Lunch With Books
Sister Mary Palmer and Sister Kathleen Durkin will present a Wheeling 250 program, “The Sisters of St. Joseph in Wheeling (1853-2019)” for Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Tuesday. The program is free and open to the public.
An interactive re-enactment of the famous 1938 radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” will be presented at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Thursday. Various regular Lunch With Books attendees will again take lead roles while smaller parts and sound effects will be provided by audience participation. The program is free and open to the public.
Carol Weakland will perform “Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass” at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The event for adults and children is free and open to the public. Cookies will be available.
St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale, will hold a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Take-out orders also will be available. Call 304-845-2646 for local delivery if ordered by 10 a.m. for lunch and by 3 p.m. for dinner.
Warwood United Methodist Church, 1438 Warwood Ave., Wheeling, will hold a turkey dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday. Take-out meals will be available without beverage. Patrons are asked to donate a flashlight with batteries for area homeless people.
The Shadyside Ladies Civics will hold a fall vendor event at Jefferson Grade School, Shadyside, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. A concession stand will offer hot food and baked goods. A chance raffle with a variety of prizes will be conducted.
An adults-only recipe club will meet in the Brooke County Public Library’s River Room, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, at noon Tuesday with a theme of apple or pumpkin recipes. For more information, call the library, 304-737-1551.
Dungeons & Dragons Club
A Dungeons & Dragons club for adults will meet at the Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Registration is not required.
