Jerry’s Walk to Host Suicide Awareness Day on Nov. 23
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Jerry’s Walk — Illuminating Suicide Awareness, a local non-profit organization dedicated to suicide prevention and awareness, will host an International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day event from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Ohio Valley Mall Community Room in St. Clairsville.
Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, groups around the globe observe International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, a day when the friends and families of those who have died by suicide come together to offer each other comfort and support.
At events in hundreds of cities spanning six continents, survivors of suicide loss gather together for programs that unite survivors of suicide loss allowing them to remember their loved ones, offer each other support and share their stories of hope.
“Each year, approximately 38,000 people die by suicide; that means on average, suicide takes one person every 40 seconds,” said Sandy Williams, Jerry’s Walk spokeswoman.
“This event will allow those touched by a suicide loss to discover that they are not alone in their grief. It is an opportunity for survivors to connect with others who are working through similar healing processes and offer them an accepting and safe space to honor their loved ones with dignity.”
There is no cost to attend this event.
To register and participate, or for more information on the event, please contact Jerry’s Walk at email@example.com.
