Smith Hits Century Mark

MARY SMITH

Mary D. Ilovar Smith of Wheeling, formerly of Elm Grove and Blaine, celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct. 30. A party was given at Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital and Geriatric Center by two of her caregivers, Mackenzie and Jamie Friends and family were in attendance for the occasion.

Mary was born in Smartino Pri Litiji, Slovenia. She arrived in Blaine to join her father when she was 8 years old, along with her mother, Louise Rozina Ilovar, and Mildred Kaveski and Louise Kozel, all deceased.

After arriving, the girls finally got a brother they always wanted, Vincent Ilovar. Mary married William Smith, now deceased, and they worked together at Wheeling Machine until they retired.

Mary is a very generous and kind lady to all her family and friends. Her beautiful smile and caring nature is a blessing to all who know her.
