Newcomers Club
The Wheeling Newcomers Club will hold a luncheon and meeting at Belmont Hills Country Club, St. Clairsville, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Bob Murray, board chairman of Murray Energy, will be the guest speaker.

History Series
“Angels of the Battlefield,” a program set in the Civil War period, will be presented at the Brooke County Historical Museum and Culture Center, 704 Charles St., Wellsburg, at 1 p.m. today.
Robin Jenkins of Reedsville will portray Dr. Mary Walker, an American feminist, suspected spy, prisoner of war and surgeon. Debra Kimball of Follansbee will portray Nancy “Rebel” Hart Douglas, a scout, guide and spy for the Confederacy.
Wheeling Class of ’50
Wheeling High School Class of 1950 will hold its monthly luncheon at Generations Restaurant, 338 National Road, Wheeling, at 1 p.m. Monday.
St. Joseph’s Class of ’54
St. Joseph’s Academy Class of 1954 will hold its monthly luncheon at TJ’s Sports Garden Restaurant, 808 National Road, Wheeling, at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Genealogical Society
The Cumberland Trail Genealogical Society will meet in the St. Clairsville Public Library’s meeting room, 108 W. Main St., at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The program will be a tribute to veterans and will include a patriotic video of the group’s president, Jean Craig, portraying Molly Scott, a pioneer settler of Fort Henry and Lansing. All meetings are free and open to the public.
Sand Hill Club
The Sand Hill Community Educational Outreach Service Club will meet at the home of Becky McCord at noon Tuesday. A business meeting will be conducted after lunch. Sue Bryant will lead the lesson, “Thailand International Student.”
Lunch With Books
Author Chris Rodell will appear at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Tuesday to discuss his new book, “Growing Up in the Real Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood: Life Lessons from the Heart of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.” The program is free and open to the public.
People’s University
The People’s University series, “Wheeling in Literature,” at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at 7 p.m. Tuesday will feature West Virginia Poet Laureate Marc Harshman. He will read his poem, “Wheeling at 250,” and selections from writers James Wright and Rebecca Harding Davis. The program is free and open to the public.
Fort Henry Piecemakers
The Fort Henry Piecemakers will meet at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 141 Kruger St., Wheeling. at 7 p.m. Thursday. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. Diana Landers will demonstrate the making of handkerchief bags.
Book Talk
Authors Gary Rider and Roseanna Keller will appear at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, 700 Fifth St., from 4-6 p.m. Thursday to talk about “Marshall CountyPatriots and Heroes: Volume 10.” They also will sign copies of the book. The program is free and open to the public.
Hoagie, Broom Sale
The Wheeling Island Lions Club is holding a hoagie and broom sale. Orders for hoagies are due Thursday.
Hoagies will be made at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 200 S. Penn St., Wheeling, and may be picked up or delivered after 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18. They also can be delivered the morning of Nov. 19. Concert

Pierogie, Cabbage Roll Sale
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4136 Jacob St., Wheeling, is holding a holiday pierogie and cabbage roll sale. The last date for placing Thanksgiving orders is Friday. The last day for picking up an order is Nov. 22.
The last date for placing Christmas orders is Dec. 13. The last day for picking up an order is Dec. 20.
Book Review
The first book review of the year for the Woman’s Club of Wheeling will be presented at 11 a.m. Nov. 15 at Monument Place, 91 Kruger St., Wheeling. Nancy Ellen Rice O’Leary will review “First Mothers” by Bonnie Angelo. It will be the 11th review she has given for the club.
O’Leary is a past president of the club and of the Northern District of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of West Virginia. She is a former teacher in Ohio County Schools.
Dungeons & Dragons Club
A Dungeons & Dragons Club for adults will meet at the Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg, from 6-9 p.m. Monday and Nov. 25. Registration is not required.
Computer Help

Fall Event
The Brooke County Friends of the Library will hold a fall event at 6 p.m. Thursday in the River Room of the main library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg. Kenneth J. Serfass will portray Ulysses S. Grant. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
