WHEELING — Every December, Artworks welcomes new members who have been juried into the Gallery during the year.

We are pleased to present the paintings of Jane Seward in the Studio Gallery for the month of December. Her show will begin with a festive holiday Opening Reception at 5:30 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 5. The party is free and open to the public.

After raising her five children, Seward had time to devote to art. Her first instructor taught her oil painting techniques. She then started experimenting with watercolor paint and has been using it ever since. Seward was introduced to Japanese Pigments when she studied with Hiromi Katayama for five years.

Seward’s work is inspired by the woods that surround her home. Some of her favorite subjects are trees, flowers, birds and water. She loves the reflections and play of light and how they influence her colors. This exhibit has something for everyone.

Artworks is a nonprofit gallery and educational center dedicated to serving the community and is located in Wheeling’s Historic Centre Market.
