FAIRMONT — Less than six months after it closed Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling and East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, California-based Alecto Healthcare Services Tuesday informed staff members at Fairmont Regional Medical Center that the facility would soon close.

Based in Marion County, W.Va., about 90 minutes from Wheeling, Fairmont Regional Medical currently employs more than 600 physicians, nurses and other staff. West Virginia MetroNews reports that hospital employees received a memo Tuesday during a meeting outlining the news.

Alecto utilized a similar process when it notified employees at OVMC and EORH.

Alecto purchased Fairmont Regional in 2014 for $15.3 million, according to MetroNews.
