MARY TIGHE
Mary Alice Tighe, 89, of Wheeling, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Marcissin Fitzgerald.
Mary grew up in Glen Dale and graduated from Moundsville High School and West Liberty State College. She was a dental hygienist and worked for numerous dentists in the Wheeling area. Mary was active in many groups, including AARP, Red Hats, Woman’s Club, OPALS, Mended Hearts, and many bridge clubs. She was a member of Elm Grove United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her children, Kathleen Tighe (partner Don Gettner), Thomas E. Tighe, and Carol Richards (husband Nelson Richards); Patricia Payne (widow of James Tighe) and her husband Rick Payne; five grandchildren, Anthony, Michael and Laura Tighe and Cory and Nathan Richards; a brother, William Fitzgerald (wife Darla) and brother in law, William Tighe (wife Diana). She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Thomas J. Tighe; her son, James Tighe; and her sister, Jean Fitzgerald.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling (304- 242-2311). Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
