Pat Buchanan Off-Base on Jan. 6

Editor, News-Register: I can slightly remember Pat Buchanan running for president back in the ‘90s. His opinion about the events of Jan. 6, 2021and saying the current president has failed is off base. Guess serving under Nixon and Bush gave him a lot of practice. Buchanan considers himself a paleo-conservative, look that up because it sounds like 45’s playbook. His “Suicide of a Super Power” basically says the old white men are losing their power over every one. Maybe that is one of the books that should be on the books to ban list. Repeal the Alternative Fuel Law

Editor, News-Register: In 2019 the West Virginia Legislature passed an Alternative Fuel Law. This Act or law placed an extra $100 license tag fee for hybrid owners and an extra $200 fee for EV owners. The concept was to make up for the gasoline tax the state was losing because hybrid and EV vehicles use less or no gasoline. The amount the state is losing in fuel tax is minimal. Editor, News-Register: It appears that the RED deal may be falling apart. And if it is not, I would hope that you will review all of the posts on this Save MCC 1009 site and see the outpouring of emotion and support for the continuation of the life of the golf course and end the deal from your side. Editor, News-Register: Ohio loses five people every day to suicide and, in the wake of these deaths, families and friends are left with the numbing pain and never-ending grief that no one should have to endure. I am one of those people. I lost my father, (Ohio Valley resident) Jerry Williams, almost 11 years ago to suicide. The pain of that loss walks with me daily. Save Moundsville Country Club

Editor, News-Register: Moundsville Country Club is a beautiful and iconic golf course in our area. It is in danger of closing and being sold for economic development. Many members are attempting to save it. They have presented great ideas for revitalization and for restructured use of the course and its facilities to the board. Unfortunately, their suggestions have fallen on deaf ears. The membership needs control of operations to reestablish financial stability and implement these ideas. Ban Conversion Therapy Locally

Editor, News-Register: On Nov. 16, 2021, I spoke before the Wheeling City Council and called upon them to ban the practice of conversion therapy. Since then, the cause has received Valley-wide attention, both positive and negative. Conversion therapy, for those reading who have no prior knowledge of this issue, is any attempt to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
